macOS Installation

Step-by-step guide to installing StemX on macOS.

Prerequisites

  • macOS 12 Monterey or later
  • Intel or Apple Silicon Mac (Universal Binary)
  • 8 GB RAM minimum
  • 500 MB free disk space

Installation Steps

1

Download the Installer

Download StemX-macOS-Installer.pkg from your account dashboard.

2

Run the Installer

Double-click the .pkg file to start installation.

If macOS blocks the installer, go to System Settings, then Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

The installer will place plugins in:

  • VST3: ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3
  • AU: ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
  • AAX: /Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins (coming soon)
3

Activate Your Licence

Launch StemX and enter your licence key when prompted.

Format: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
4

Rescan Plugins

Open your DAW and rescan for audio plugins. In Logic Pro, this happens automatically.

Apple Silicon (M1 and later)

StemX is a Universal Binary that runs natively on Apple Silicon Macs.

CoreML acceleration is automatically enabled on Apple Silicon, providing excellent performance without any configuration.

Note: If running your DAW under Rosetta 2, the Intel version of StemX will be used. For best performance, run your DAW natively.

Gatekeeper Issues?

If macOS prevents the installer from running, you can allow it via Terminal:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine ~/Downloads/StemX-macOS-Installer.pkg

Then double-click the installer again.
